It has been great to see so many members back at training preparing for the winter season which commences this week!
Fixtures for the u/16s, u/18s and State League competitions can now be found on the Water Polo Victoria website (click on “winter”): http://websites.sportstg.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-3142-0-0-0&a=COMPS#Winter
All games will be played indoors. Please remember to check the location of the game as some will be played at Melbourne High School in addition to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center.
Good luck to all Dragon teams! We hope this is a fun and successful season for everyone.
The 2017 winter competition for teams in the divisions 16s years old and over is set to begin the week after Easter with round 1 games on the 18th, 19th & 20th of April.
This week we are finalising the NYP Dragons teams. If you have not already done so please confirm your participation in the competition with your team captain/coach ASAP.
Water Polo Victoria are working with MSAC to move games for the competition into the indoor pool at MSAC, which I’m sure will help on upcoming cold winter evenings.
Over the next month our club has a number of great fundraising initiatives running that we hope all our members can get behind.
Firstly we are getting into the Easter theme selling packets of hot crossed buns! They will come in packets of 6 for just $5, and can be ordered in either traditional (with fruit), no fruit, or chocolate. The order forms have been sent to members via email. Completed order forms are to be emailed by Tuesday the 28th of March or given to Perri Randall at Sunday training by the 26th of March.
Bunnings have also given us an additional fundraising BBQ on Saturday the 8th of April. It would be fantastic to get as many volunteers as possible to assist with the setup, cooking, running and/or clean up on the day. Ideally, we only need members to give up 2 hours of their day. We are particularly calling upon our senior members to lend a hand!
Our club is also continuing offering entertainment books for purchase. The entertainment book includes many offers for the most popular restaurants, attractions, shopping, travel and more. It is now available as the original Entertainment Book (hardcopy) or as a digital membership (electronic) on your smart phone. By purchasing the books through NYP Dragons, 20% of the sales of every book or membership will go to club. Follow the link below to browse the offers available:
If you would like to support the club through purchasing an entertainment book, you can do so from the link below:
To celebrate the upcoming end of Sub-junior season & congratulate all the Geelong Victorian Junior State Championship players, the club will be putting on pancakes after junior training at Nunawading pool. Pancakes will be served from 6:30pm, on Sunday 19th March 2017.
We’d love to see some of the senior players come down and meet our junior up & coming stars.
A huge congratulations to Ryan Zibell for being named Most Valuable Player in the 14s Boys competition at the recent 2017 Junior State Championships in Geelong. Ryan led our 14s Boys team from the front during the tournament. He was top goal scorer for our team and his performances were a standout, all while also playing in our 16s Boys team throughout the weekend!
